Initial situation
At the beginning of our collaboration, the software store was in a challenging position. The monthly traffic was 18,000 visitors, which was a solid basis, but the store’s potential was far from being fully exploited. The store’s visibility, as measured by the Visibility Index (SI), was only 0.41, which indicated a limited reach and low presence in search results.
Our client had realized that they lacked a solid foundation of backlinks needed to climb further up the organic search results. Especially in the area of strong and highly authoritative backlinks, the competition had a clear advantage, which our client urgently wanted to make up for.
Our approach
After a comprehensive analysis of the competitive landscape and the client’s existing link profile, we decided to focus on off-page SEO and the targeted development of backlinks. We pursued a two-pronged strategy:
Creating a foundation: First, we laid the foundation by building up backlinks en masse. Here we relied on forum links and a large number of smaller content links, which together formed a strong foundation. This strategy helped us to strengthen the domain authority and create a broader basis for later, more targeted measures.
High-quality links for top keywords: Once the foundation was laid, we focused on high-quality content links, especially for the most important keywords. In our competitive analysis, we discovered that the competition had built up a large number of strong backlinks, particularly in the domain rating range of 50-65. In order to be competitive in this environment, we specifically invested in high-quality links that were precisely in this authority range.
We used the monthly budget of €3,000 for link building efficiently to achieve a mix of quick success through quantity and long-term success through quality.
The result
Our measures led to impressive results. Traffic increased from 18,000 to 135,000 visitors per month – an almost seven-fold increase. The value of this organic traffic is the equivalent of over €294,000 per month that the client would otherwise have had to spend on Google ads to achieve the same reach.
The visibility index also recorded a significant increase from 0.41 to 3.07. This underlines the significantly improved presence of the store in the search results and confirms the effectiveness of our off-page SEO strategy.
By strategically building backlinks, we were not only able to significantly increase visibility and traffic, but also create a sustainable basis on which the client can continue to build. The store is now ideally positioned to hold its own in a highly competitive market in the long term.
