Analyze your own link profile – how it works!

Analyzing the link profile is an important step. This is why a backlink analysis should always be carried out. Various analyses can be considered for this. Care should also be taken to ensure that monitoring is carried out so that, for example, an attack with link spam is detected at an early stage.

What is a backlink analysis for your own link profile?

If findings are to be drawn from the existing link profile, then it is worth carrying out a backlink analysis that also maps the entire environment. To do this, all backlinks should first be collected. Apart from this, a high-quality SEO tool such as Sistrix should be available.

Analyze your own link profile – Why?

The analysis of your own link profile is highly recommended for a variety of reasons, for example in the case of:

  • Comparison between himself and his competition
  • Clean up anomalies in the link profile
  • Search for the reason for low ranking, despite helpful content

Which factors should be taken into account for your own backlinks?

When it comes to your own backlinks, there are a large number of factors that should be taken into account – certainly even more than those mentioned in this article. However, there is no general scheme.

Amount of backlinks

First of all, every operator should make sure how many backlinks their own domain already has and how many domains these backlinks come from. These metrics can be read via Sistrix, but also via Ahrefs and other SEO tools.

The number of domains that link is more important than the sheer number of links. So if 500 links result from two domains, then these links are worth less than, for example, 20 links that result from 5 different domains. In the first case, only two are counted, whereas in the other case it is five domains. Building backlinks is therefore worthwhile!

NoFollow/DoFollow ratio

Another key figure is the ratio between NoFollow and DoFollow links. However, this is not of too much importance, as Google also says that this metric should not be influenced. However, if there are many NoFollow links (from around 60 percent), then the reason for this should be looked at more closely.

Anchor texts

The anchor texts are something that is definitely paid attention to, as this can also be used to determine possible manipulation. It is therefore important to pay attention to which anchor texts have been used most frequently.

Website type

It is also interesting to see what kind of websites link the most. It could be company websites, forums, news portals or normal blogs.

Metrics

It is also interesting to see what metrics the linking pages have and which countries they come from. Then it can be further analyzed in terms of visibility index, trust or domain popularity.
